VERMICULTURE IN SCHOOLS

Attention all eco-educators!

Wormlovers are now available for a range of educational visits, from primary school up to tertiary level. We can come to your institution or organisation and do a dynamic presentation about the practical and theoretical side to worm-farming and vermiculture products. In a typical visit we would cover the following areas:

• Basic earthworm biology and species
• The importance of worms in the ecosystem and their role in healthy soils
• Practical introduction to worm-farms and vermi-composting (including demonstrations
• Importance of vermiculture in waste management and emissions reduction
• Use of worm juice and worm castings in gardening and broadacre farming

The presentation includes visual material, live worms and examples of worm products. We can present in electronic form or storyboard form.

The complexity of the presentation depends on the age of the students and your organization or institutions needs and educational objectives. For primary school age we take a more simple and fun approach which includes inspecting the worms.

For an additional fee we can deliver a working Reln “can o worms” worm farm with training and instruction on how to use it. We are also happy to discuss assisting in setting up medium scale wormfarm facilities to manage organic waste in your institution.

Our basic fee for a worm session in your institution is $180 (plus travel expenses depending on your location). This price inculdes a box of 1000 worms.
